Reflection of Learning Summary/Digital Sharing

As I reflect upon the class sharing ring that we took part in this evening, I can certainly see this activity as one that could be used with some of my students. I feel as though this class has been really useful in the way that we have been able to meet, interact, and share ideas with our classmates. Collaborating is always such a beneficial way to learn because you are able to compare your ideas and get a clue to see if you're "heading in the right direction."

When teaching students, I think that sometimes young students are somewhat hesitant to ask questions, especially when "all eyes on on them." No matter how much you, as a teacher, will stress that it is important to share ideas and ask questions and that it's okay to be wrong, no student wants to feel like they're giving the wrong answer. I think it's easier for assignments to be clarified when you are talking with a peer one-on-one----it's a comfortable learning community where your ideas can be validated, clarified, and questions can be cleared up.

During this sharing ring, I felt as though I was able to clear up some of my questions and concerns about the learning summary and digital sharing project that we are doing for class. After using some of the tools, I do feel more comfortable creating an idea for the digital sharing project. I'm still somewhat confused about the learning summary. Orignially, I thought we were looking to compare our learning to some sort of artifact, much like the "slice of watermelon." I was thinking along the lines of comparing my learning to some sort of mode of transportation and comparing my learning to a "journey through the tools of technology." After sharing ideas with classmates, I'm thinking more along the lines of using one of the sites to display this learning. I'm sure that along the way, my ideas for both the learning summary and digital sharing will both be changing in some ways.
